Tara Forest Sangha

A home for dharma in the Blue Ridge Highlands.
Wheel of Bliss is the land: 63 acres of forest, stream, and ridgeline adjoining Pisgah National Forest. Tara Forest Sangha is the Buddhist community that practices on it. Retreats, empowerments, and ongoing practice with teachers from living lineages.

Green Tara is the embodiment of courage and swift, enlightened action. Emerald colored like our forests in late summer, Tara has been a constant source of inspiration for our practitioners.
The land

Held by the mountain.

You practice on land held by one of the oldest ranges on the planet. Sixty-three acres, five trails, streams running cold from mountain aquifers year-round, forest that melds into Pisgah National Forest as far as the eye can see. Location is the container that shapes the work inside. This land has held hundreds of retreats since 2016.
The walk to the hall is part of the practice. The mountain keeps its own silence, and lends it.
Groups within the sangha
Tara Forest Sangha is home to the Asheville chapter of Maitreya Sangha, part of an international community of practitioners.
One of the practices held here, alongside retreats and empowerments with teachers from other lineages. The land was acquired in 2012 for Tibetan Buddhist practitioners and is tended through daily prayer and offering.
